Unobstructed view of the Serra do Açor from our veranda

From our veranda in Mouronho we have a beautiful view of the mountain range “Serra do Açor” This mountain range consists mostly of slatestone.
This opposite to the highest mountain range of Portugal, the “Serra da Estrella”, which consists of granite.

Hidden in the Serra do Açor you will find little gems of villages, all worth a visit. These lovely slatestone villages can be seen on foot due to well marked hiking trails or by car.

There is an abundance of water from the many streams and waterfalls that come from the mountains, so that our surroundings can be called exuberantly green in every season!
